What is important in your Community?
Do you think that Opunake needs a new skatepark? Does Hawera need a community art space? How can we address the lack of facilities for youth in Manaia? Could community groups make better use of the Hunter Shaw building?
You have the chance to have input on these and many other questions when the Council reviews the Community Development Plans for Opunake, Waimate Plains, Patea and Hawera during February 2006.
The plans, adopted in 2002 and 2003 respectively, provide an overview of the issues affecting those communities and the projects residents want to complete to improve their social, cultural, economic and environmental wellbeing.

What could we do to make our town square more vibrant? |
How can tourism best be promoted on the coast? |
We want to know if you are satisfied with the results of completed projects and whether the community supports remaining projects. The reviews also provide a chance for the community to flag new issues and opportunities.
Review forms and copies of the community development plans are available from the Opunake, Hawera, Patea and Manaia Library Plus centers, Vercoes 4 Square in Rahotu, Normanby School and the Council's administration building in Hawera.
