Swimming Pools The Council provides swimming-pools for public use throughout the district. There are pools in Waverley, Patea, Rawhitiroa, Eltham, Kaponga and Manaia. The Council also makes a contribution to the Opunake Baths Society Incorporated. The Society provides a heated indoor pool in conjunction with Opunake High School. This is open to the public outside school hours. The Powerco Aquatic Centre is open all year round and has a 25m indoor heated pool and a 50m outdoor heated pool. Open from Labour Weekend until Easter. Other activities and facilities include aqua-aerobics, learn-to-swim programmes, school-swimming group instruction and barbecues.
